CHS, the Best Research College in KNUST

 

The College of Health Sciences (CHS) was adjudged the best Research College at the 2023 Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Research Excellence Award on the 2nd of June, 2023 at the Great Hall.

The Research Excellence Awards were the culmination of the KNUST Research Week Celebrations and the College of Health Sciences was recognized for demonstrating excellence in research performance and impact.

Speaking on this achievement, Professor Christian Agyare, the Provost of the College of Health Sciences expressed his gratitude for the commitment and collective efforts of all the staff and students of CHS towards achieving such a commendable research output. He added that this has helped us attain all the successes and retain the enviable record in the University as Number One in Research output that supports healthcare delivery in the country and also brings in much-needed funds to the University.

The College of Health Sciences, through the hardworking senior members, was able to attract a total research grant of over 6 million US dollars in the year 2022.

The College continues to lead in research output in the University with a total of 715 publications which form 30.6% of the total publications in the University as captured in the last edition (i.e. 18th Edition) of Quality Assurance Bulletin produced by the University.

The College of Health Sciences of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology comprises the Faculties of Allied Health Sciences, the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, the School of Medicine and Dentistry, the School of Veterinary Medicine and the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research in tropical medicine (KCCR) as the main research center.

The College aims to be the preferred destination for teaching, research, professional and entrepreneurial training in health sciences for the sustainable development of Ghana and the rest of Africa.

Also, the College of Health Sciences is unrelenting in its mandate to provide a conducive academic environment for professional and entrepreneurial training in health sciences, collaborative research, community, and industrial support, enhanced linkages, and encouragement of business innovations, for effective healthcare delivery in Ghana and for the attainment of globally relevant goals.
