Dr. Elliot Koranteng Tannor , MD (MB ChB '06) and a Senior Lecturer of the Department of Medicine was one of 10 medical experts who carried out the first kidney transplant in the Ashanti Region.
The operation aimed to bring relief to Mr. Kofi Gyabeng, a patient with end-stage renal failure.
After nearly four hours, Mr. Gyabeng's kidneys were removed, and a matching kidney from a donor was successfully transplanted.
The procedure occurred at the HopeXchange Medical Centre in Kumasi, under the auspices of the Kidney Specialist Centre.
The School of Medical Sciences congratulates our alumnus for this achievement.
