Senior Members of the SMD Holds An Interactive Meeting With The Provost And The Management Of CHS

SMD interactive meeting with CHS Management

 

The senior members of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) School of Medicine and Dentistry on the 6th of April 2023 has held an interactive meeting with the Provost, Professor Christian Agyare, and the management of the College of Health Sciences to Brainstorm and gather the needed information to support the efficient decision-making process in the college.

The Provost of the College of Health Sciences, Prof Christian Agyare thanked the faculty members and reiterated that the interactive meeting is part of the inclusive and participatory approach by the College’s management to attend to issues that need clarification, welcome innovations and move the school of Medicine and Dentistry forward. He hinted that the Vice-chancellor will interact with the management and the various heads of department and Exam officers from the 6th to the 9th of May 2023.

The Provost revealed that the steps to separate the School of Medicine from the School of Dentistry (Dental School) have gotten to advanced stages from the college level, School level through the Planning and resource stages. Professor Agyare also stated that the Graduate Entry Programme has gotten approval from the academic board but there are other requirements to fulfill within the University’s system and that of the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) and the Medical and Dental Council (MDC).

Other major highlights in the Provost’s remarks were on the Disbursement of the First Semester motivation to staff, the payment of a seven-year bill to the Electricity Company of Ghana and future plans to be implemented to manage electricity citing the use of solar energy or self-meters for the various facilities within the college. The finance officer of the College of Health Sciences, Dr Charles Nsiah touched on the payment of school fees, Clinical Hostel fees, and the increase of the funds on impress for the 19 departments in the School of Medicine among others.

The interactive meeting brought forth a lot of deliberations and ideas. The senior members expressed satisfaction with the outcome.
